Our 2021 banquet was the the most successful banquet in our 49-year history.
The theme of our 2021 Annual Life Saving Banquet was from Psalm 1:3, “like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
Just like a tree, Morning Star has deep roots firmly planted in the Harrisburg community. For 49 years, Morning Star has not yielded to political climate, recessions or even pandemics. God’s laws are firmly planted in our hearts. We move forward one step at a time—saving lives, one baby at a time, and hearts, one mother and father at a time.
Despite an unprecedented world-wide epidemic, Morning Star received inconceivable blessings: A new home, right in the middle of where we are needed the most! A 6,000 square-foot building on Front Street, along the Susquehanna, in the city of Harrisburg. A more centrally located building for our clients AND only one mile from Planned Parenthood!
Our new clinic is instrumental in allowing our ministry to grow for generations to come, providing us with:
- A fourth counseling room, allowing us to counsel more than 700 additional clients
- A second ultrasound examination room, providing up to an additional 1,000 ultrasounds each year
- A dedicated STD testing lab, allowing us to double STD testing and treatment appointments
- A multi-purpose education room, providing space to hold abortion recovery support and safe sleep classes, and allowing us to increase parenting and education classes and enhance sexual integrity education in our schools
It was so vital for Morning Star to stay open last year during the pandemic—especially since abortion clinics stayed open.
Because of YOU, Morning Star provided almost 2,000 client visits and more than 1,000 ultrasounds, as well as clothing and food for 1,100 babies. AND, the end result: During the pandemic in 2020, 488 abortion-vulnerable women chose Life for their babies!
Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Department of Health released their latest Abortion Statistics, noting that over 31,000 babies lost their lives to abortion in Pennsylvania in 2019. Almost 45% of those were chemical abortions using the abortion pill (RU-486). As Morning Star looks to the future, we are hoping to reduce the number of lives lost by offering Abortion Pill Reversal, otherwise referred to as APR. The APR process provides a high-level dose of progesterone and can reverse the effects of the abortion pill, giving a mother another opportunity to choose Life. Women who are having second thoughts after the abortion process would be able to contact Morning Star to schedule an immediate appointment to start the abortion pill reversal process. As an affiliate of Heartbeat International, Morning Star would receive direct referrals for APR appointments through Heartbeat’s 24/7 option line contact center. By becoming a part of the APR Network, Morning Star can become a quick and effective advocate to save even more lives.
Morning Star has a very ambitious vision as we always strive to do more for our community!
By strengthening our roots, expanding services in our clinics and increasing outreach to our schools, we are confident that together, with YOUR support, we will make an even greater impact in 2021. YOUR support allows us to show the love and hope of Jesus Christ to the moms and dads who come through our doors.
Even through these recent trials, Morning Star is prospering, making an impact for generations to come. Like the world’s oldest trees, our fruitful work will continue long after we have left this earth. Our new clinic will stand, our mission will remain unwavering, and generations of children will become the fabric of our community—because of YOU who support Morning Star.
