Morning Star is committed to ensuring that each mother and father in our community has the resources they need to provide a nurturing home for their child. We provide parenting education, community referrals, and necessary baby supplies to over 1000 clients in our community.
New babies are welcomed into this world with a newborn layette, lovingly assembled by our volunteers, that includes baby clothing, supplies, and gifts. And with it, each new mom or dad receives the assurance that Morning Star is here for them and their family, whenever they need us.
Morning Star offers safe sleep education classes for new parents and provides over 40 new Pack ‘n Play cribs each year to mothers and fathers who do not have a safe place for their baby to sleep. We support parents with emergency supplies of baby materials, and we offer a supporting ear for struggling new parents.
For some of our clients, Morning Star’s support means that they have enough diapers, wipes, and formula to last them through the month, or that their child has a warm coat to wear through the winter. For others, like Matthew, Morning Star is a beacon of hope in one of the most difficult moments in their life:
Matthew came to Morning Star in dire need. His infant daughter Serena was born premature. Her mother, an addict, was unable to care for her. Matthew stayed by his daughter’s side while she spent two months in the neonatal intensive care unit being weaned off of drugs. “I was at the end of my rope. I spent all I had on medical bills. Morning Star gave me diapers, formula and a crib.
