Darleen came to Morning Star when she found out she was pregnant. Her mom had passed away several years prior, she had been homeless, she had other children, she was in a verbally and mentally abusive relationship with the father of the baby, and ultimately—she felt trapped. Even though Darleen had a strong religious faith, she felt she couldn’t have another child. However, after coming to Morning Star for three counseling sessions and ultrasound appointments, Darleen felt more stable about a plan for herself and her children. Darleen was appreciative of the maternity housing referrals, information regarding on-going education, food banks and clothing support, and ultimately—Darleen chose life for her baby!
