Maria and John were both trying to get their lives on track after battling addictions and overcoming legal problems. Both of them had children before they met. When Maria found out she was pregnant, they both came to Morning Star. Upon having an ultrasound, Maria and John found out they were having twins.
Both Maria and John were equally shocked, but John was even more upset. John felt this pregnancy, especially twins, was a setback in his life. Through counseling, time, more ultrasounds, and referrals for assistance programs, John came to terms with having twins and became very engaged with the pregnancy. Maria and John chose life for their twins! In fact, John now sees the twins as a second chance for him to begin life anew, making the right choices for himself and his family.
