Kristen contacted Morning Star because she had just discovered she was pregnant. She told the counselor she was undecided as to what to do about this pregnancy. She also shared that she had a previous abortion at the age of 16 at the insistence of her mother. To complicate matters further she described a very rocky relationship with her boyfriend with no hope of a future together. Her boyfriend was telling her to have an abortion just as her mother had done several years before.
When Kristen had her first ultrasound, she saw a seven-weeks-old baby with a strong heartbeat. We invited Kristen to come back for another ultrasound the following week. At her second appointment Kristen said she had many sad talks that resulted in the happy final decision to “keep her baby.” She said she felt supported rather than pressured by her counselor and all the Morning Star staff and had made the decision to move out of state in order to be closer to her family who would support her in this pregnancy.
Kristen said, “You all do a service (that) not many can or will do and I am so thankful.”
